Assistant

Open Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode or Cursor in a Joppa drawer, and send them an error from the logs with its context: project, full path, process, service, database.

The Assistant is a drawer on the right of the window where your coding agent runs: Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode or Cursor, in a real terminal, opened on the project’s folder. Select an error in a Joppa log, and it reaches the agent with all its context.

The Assistant drawer: two error lines of the acme database sent to Claude Code, typed into its prompt but not sent

Open the drawer

⌘ I opens or closes the Assistant from any screen (also in the ⌘ K palette: Assistant). With no session, it offers the installed agents and Terminal, your shell. The session opens in the folder of the project on screen, shown under the tabs; with no project, in your home folder.

  • +: a new session, of an agent or of the terminal. Each session has its tab; × closes it and stops the program.
  • Relaunch: when the agent has stopped, it starts again in the same folder.
  • Resize: drag the drawer’s left edge. Joppa remembers the width.

Sessions keep running when you change screens or close the drawer.

The agents offered

Joppa only offers the agents it finds in your login shell’s PATH (and in their usual install folders, such as ~/.local/bin or ~/.opencode/bin):

Agent Command
Claude Code claude
Codex codex
OpenCode opencode
Cursor cursor-agent

An agent installed while Joppa runs shows up the next time the drawer opens.

Send an error

Select lines in the built-in terminal or in a service’s log. A bubble appears above them:

  • Ask Claude Code (the default agent); the arrow next to it offers the other installed agents and Terminal.
  • Copy with context: puts the same thing on the clipboard, to paste wherever you like (Claude on the web, Cursor…).

Joppa opens the agent in the right folder, or reuses that agent’s session already open in that folder, then types the question into its prompt. It says plainly where the lines come from:

  • for a process: the project, the full path of its folder, the process, its command, the folder it runs in, its port, its status and its exit code; on the All tab, that each line starts with its process;
  • for a service: the service, its container and port, the database of the chosen tab, and the projects using it with their full path. The agent opens in the folder of the project using that database (or of the only project using the service).

Then come the selected lines, and a first question (“What is wrong, and how do I fix it?”) you can rewrite.

Allow an agent

The first time Joppa opens an agent, it asks Allow Joppa to open Claude Code?, with the command’s path. The agent can read and change the files of the folder, as it does in your terminal.

The Send the questions asked from Joppa straight away box is unchecked: Joppa types the question into the prompt without pressing Enter. You read it, complete it, then send it. Checked, Joppa presses Enter for you. The terminal never sends anything on its own.

Settings

The drawer’s ⚙ button sets the Default agent and Send the questions straight away, and leads to All settings…. Settings › Assistant has the same two choices and lists the Allowed agents, each with Revoke: Joppa asks again next time. See Settings.
